Summit Custom Homes is building Kansas City’s 2014 St. Jude Dream Home, for the 4th year in a row.

The project was kicked off on Wednesday, January 15 with Bricks & Sticks and Groundbreaking. Summit’s vendors, trade partners, sponsors, and supporters were in attendance, and had the opportunity to sign up to participate in the project. For the past two years, Summit has built net zero homes.

“Our Dream Homes are 100% donated, from the ground up. Our trade partners and supporters are so amazing. They give so much of their time, talent, and energy to the Dream Home project, and for that we are extremely grateful. St. Jude is close to our hearts, and has become a part of our everyday culture at Summit. The hospital is doing astounding research, which they share freely with other hospitals. No family ever has to pay for their child’s treatment at St. Jude. We fully embrace the organization and are so happy to be a part of the Dream Home Giveaway,” said Megan Fratzke, Marketing Manager for Summit Custom Homes.

This year’s Dream Home will be built in The Shores at Chapman Farms, located at 7 Highway and Colbern Road. The community is marketed by The Rob Ellerman team at Reece and Nichols. It boasts a number of exceptional amenities: a beautiful lake, walking trails, a swimming pool, a cabana house, and, as of late February, a brand new park with playground equipment, park benches, and a fitness area. It’s close proximity to lakes, parks, recreational facilities, renowned sports facilities, and ball parks make it a prime location for families who want to live near a broad range of fun activities. Children who live in The Shores attend the award-winning Lee’s Summit R-7 school district.

To date, Summit has raised over $3 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In 2012, the company was awarded the “Builder of the Year” and “Zero Hero” awards, and in 2013, they again received the “Zero Hero” award for their net zero home.

The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway was created in 1991 by Dr. Donald Mack in Shreveport, Louisiana. Today, the Giveaway is one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude nationwide and has raised more than $260 million. This year, the program will include more than 30 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaways and will continue to grow.
